When I was on my pregnancy journey, I asked a dear friend, “What is the one thing you suggest I have?”— her answer: Renée

I first heard of what a doula was about 5 years ago. I knew doulas were support systems for mom. What I did not realize was all that support entailed— it was so much more…

Simply stated, our birth plan and vision could not have been fulfilled without her.

She helped us advocate for our rights: Rights that I would not have known we had without her. She provided evidence-based research so that we, as parents, could make informed decisions. She let us know what questions to ask the doctors- things I didn’t even know to consider! We weighed risks vs benefits carefully and made decisions personally and for our family.

During labor, she supported my weight physically and emotionally. My husband and her took turns comforting me. Thanks to our prenatal visits, my husband was prepared with comfort measures to help me through contractions even without her present. She reassured us – telling us we were doing great, reminded me of breathwork, options for movement, mindset, and I was able to stay present through each moment.

Renée worked her magic through use of the rebozo wrap, inversions and birth ball. I went from 4-5 cm dilated to 10 cm in about 1.5 hours — even the nurses were surprised.

After what seemed like an all-day process then was shortened to 15 minutes or less of pushing. Little Mia had arrived!

The doctors and nurses were all impressed of this physiological birth without meds and knew Renée had played a huge role!

Renée helped our baby latch right away and held her up while I was too physically exhausted. She then supported me to stand up, hydrate me, and walk me to go to the bathroom.

She checked in on us hours later, captured our birth through photographs, and came to visit and evaluate our feeding and birth story shortly after settling back at home.

After my best friend had used Renée with baby #1 and mentioned, she is the one thing I highly recommend you need for birth, I knew I could not go without her! Renée was an investment for our future and helped us achieve the goals and vision we wished for. She continues to support me through this new journey of motherhood and I am grateful to have her as part of my tribe.

I had the most wonderful experience working with Renee Pizzuto with my firstborn. From the first moment my husband and I met her, she was warm, kind, and gentle and instilled a high level of trust and confidence. It was such a privilege having her as my go-to person with all of my questions and concerns during my pregnancy and post-partum.

She was readily available when I went into labor at 2:00am, and she took such good care of me and our little one during the entire process of birth.  She was always so patient and thoughtful with me.  She had a ton of experience to lean on and wisdom to offer.  She had an amazing ability to help problem solve the situation by providing insights and new ideas while also normalizing what we were going through and assuring us that we were doing a great job.

I genuinely miss working with her, but I look forward to having her back for our second child if God blesses us again.

If you are looking for support, evidence-based guidance, love, warmth, strong connection/bond, empowerment and an amazing birthing advocate/coach, Renée is the person who you have been searching for. She will help you navigate your pregnancy journey with her strong knowledge base and support. Her love for being a doula is truly reflective through her actions.

Renée has been so supportive since the moment I met her. She listened to all of my concerns. She helped me transition from a hospital to home birth plan very late in my pregnancy due to the pandemic. She eased my worries and allowed me to believe in myself again. Renée made me feel loved and important, as I felt so lonely and isolated due to my history of being COVID positive. She made herself available to me 24/7. I was provided with learning material and she explained all topics with me via zoom and in-person. Renée was never pushy and she did not get frustrated when I had questions. She even helped my husband understand how to help me.

The day I was actually in labor Renée was super supportive and helped me gain control when I felt like I was not in control. After the birth of my baby she stayed and made sure all my needs were met. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about how good she was to me. I didn’t want her to leave.

During the postpartum period, Renée contacted me regularly and visited my home a few times to make sure I was doing well. This is something I did not have with my last two pregnancies as I did not hire a doula. I wish I had, because the postpartum period is when support is needed most.

Because of Renée, I had the most positive birthing experience, ever. I highly recommend Renée Pizzuto to be part of your team as your doula. You won’t regret this decision.”

Initially I wasn’t convinced that I needed a doula for my second child. But wow was I so grateful we decided to do it. My first birth was healthy but very stressful and even traumatic. As an act of self care – I wanted to have someone I trusted who would take care of me emotionally and physically and be able to advise me on what’s what.

Renee was a source of ease, assurance, and empowerment. At 37 weeks I realized I wanted to switch providers and she supported me through it. She reminded me of my options and choices and helped me focus on my needs (instead of my taking care of everyone else).

When I think about my birth experience with my second, the word “relaxing” comes to mind. Renee’s guidance and support made that possible. She taught me how to breathe through what I was afraid of and I remained steady, calm, and even cheerful in my birth.

Hands down this was one of the most worthwhile investments in my well-being and that of my family.

I will forever sing the praises of Renée.

I have had four children. My first two without a doula and while my experience was beautiful, I do not have a story that is anything you wouldn’t hear of, my last two were everything I could have ever wanted. Homebirth interested me from the beginning, but without the knowledge and the confidence, I didn’t do it. For my third babe, I found an amazing midwife and Renée. Renée and I did the work to face the things that I feared, I learned so much about birth and the process of the body going through birth. I felt comfortable and confident in my birth plan and my ability to manage the pain. When the day came, I was blown away. Renée kept me settled, grounded. I brought my baby into the world exactly how I had wanted and I felt supported, loved and so amazing.

Of course, when I became pregnant with my fourth baby, I knew exactly what I needed to do. And again, my birth was magic. This is the hardest work I have ever done and Renée not only made it manageable, she made it enjoyable. Thanks to the most wonderful supportive team, I was able to have the most beautiful experience. Renée was my strength, my sound mind, my reminder to stay present. My world has been completely changed by my journey into motherhood. So much of my confidence as a mother is found in my births and as I found myself creating the births that I had always wanted, I found myself complete as a mother.

Thank you Renée, for all you lead me to.
